The First Cthulhu Party
(November 16, 2007)
This was the first official Math Club event of the 07/08 semester. We
assembled to play the Steve Jackson game Do You Worship Cthulhu? wherein we
systematically killed off our friends in the hopes of stopping the
worshippers of Cthulhu. Photos courtesy Elizabeth.

Group shot of our Cthulhu players, as we wait to begin a game. The copy
of Do You Worship Cthulhu?
may be spotted in the lower left corner.

Reg and Nathan showcase their artistic skill at depicting people's
deaths in our games of Do You
Worship Cthulhu?

Risk is one of the many board games popular in the Math Club.

Part of the great thing about games nights is the vast variety of board
games we play. Does anybody remember what this is?

Not only is the Math Club home to math nerdery, but to science nerdery
in general. Here we see Zarya and Nathan in an epic duel of who could
first write down all the transition elements from merory on the
blackboard.
Making a snowman (January 29,
2008)
This was not an official, planned math club event, but illustrates part
of what makes the MC awesome: spontaneous group acts of fun and
creativity. Photos courtesy Don Erhardt.

Elizabeth, Zuzana, Tim and Reg discuss how to mount a head upon the
body of the to-be snowman.

And on goes the head...

Soon it has arms too!

Now for the eyes...

Let us not forget a mouth...

...and here we are with the complete snowman!

games nights (Term II, 2008)

Beer and Fourier Transforms: beloved staples of the Math Club.
Here, Tim shows off his method of killing Simon in a game of Do You Worship Cthulhu?

Of course, anything written on the blackboards, especially mathematics,
is subject to editing.

The Math Club is, of course, funished not only with blackboards, but
with posters of graphing calculators and a hand-drawn portrait of
Leonhard Euler. And our wonderful new couches.
Summer Games Night #1 (June
13, 2008)
The Math Club continues operating during the summer, and games nights
are a favourite way for us to keep in touch. Photos courtesy Elizabeth.

Kory introduces us to a new game where we compete at building manors.

Lounging around together: another favourite activity of the Math Club.

Our fearless new president stands upon the fridge triumphantly.

Andrew, Zuzana and Tim enjoy a group shot.

Waiting for the bus is another opportunity for group photos.
Summer Games Night #2 (July
18, 2008)
The second games night of the summer. Photos courtesy Elizabeth.

Cameron, an alumnus of the Math Club, comes back to join us for this
games night. Here he is playing with Elizabeth's signature fedora.

Settlers of Catan:
another Math Club favourite. During a moment of silence, one of these
unlucky players (who will not be named out of courtesy) was overheard
stating that he was desperate for wood. We were mature and did not
giggle. Okay, maybe a little.

The pizza seen in Zuzana's hand is another staple of the games nights.
Hurrah for free food!
Summer Games Night #3 (August
15, 2008)
The final Math Club event of the summer. Photos courtesy Elizabeth;
mostly taken by Zuzana.

Avra (another Math Club alumnus come back to visit us) writing on the
blackboard.

Avra and Kory showing off how productive Avra was at her conference.

Taking candid group shots is a hobby of Zuzana's at these events.

The game that Nick, Elizabeth and Jacob are enjoying here is Pandemic, a co-operative game where
we save the world from small, brightly coloured wooden blocks.

Another candid shot taken by Zuzana.
Board Games Night (September 26, 2008)
Following up to our successful open-house luncheon the week before,
this board games night was the first of the 08/09 Winter term. Prefaced
by a Koerner's night at the Physsoc, this board games night featured
the good times of any MC Games Night. Photos courtesy Elizabeth and Zue.
Memorable moments on the MC blackboard.
This night's attendance featured many new members!
This particular monster game ("Fearsome Floors") that Kory
brought us was a lot of fun and entertained many of the attendees.
Shoots for who goes first.
Like most MC events, this one had its fair share of love!
